Abstract

This article discusses the issue of internal displacement in India, focusing on the people who have been forced to leave their homes in the Balakot region of Jammu & Kashmir as a result of the conflict there. Both the causes and effects of population relocation have been explored, with the link between war and migration receiving particular attention. There is a long history of conflict between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LOC) in the contested territory of Jammu and Kashmir, and the first half of this essay discusses the notion of displacement and provides facts about that history. The purpose of this study is to discuss the research undertaken in the Balakot area of Jammu and Kashmir, its methods, as well as its findings about the role of the border in human displacement and the effects of this phenomenon on individuals, families, and communities. The authors have made an effort to provide a summary of the issue of internal displacement in Jammu and Kashmir as a result of the international conflict along the LOC and some potential solutions to the problem.
